Looks like I will be getting a company car with a budget around £20k.I commute around 120 miles a day, 50% motorway. Child on the way so need 4 doors and a boot.

Pruis makes sense for economy, personal taxation, price, size, comfort levels, - but I have always hated Pruis's and Pruis drivers - help me, is there an alternative?

I have a second fun car so is the Pruis so hateful if you look from a practical and financial point of view?

116d?
118d?

They surely come in on budget and would be a whole lot better.

I had a 118d before. The 5 door starts at £21k before any extra's and its a bit small.

But keep him here if he gets a 116d? biggrin that doesn't make any sense hehe

Due to the taxing on cars, Prius' are a very interesting prospect as a company car.
Just wouldn't get one for motorway miles.

I really really want a prius, modify it to do 150mph (which should be easely possible with around 200bhp due to it's slippery shape) and then pass every greeny in his VW Van/Beetle at that speed.

hehe

How about you get the Prius but as in vogue at the moment, you offset any savings you've made and you buy a bigger and thirstier fun car.

Satisfies both camps.

Why are they bad for motorway miles?

I'd consider a bluemotion Golf, Touran or Passat - I don't think the 1 series would be big enough...

Because at motorway speeds they are no more economical than many diesels.

Subaru Impreza diesel?

Just don't buy a Prius, unless you intend to grow a beard, wear NHS glasses and wear sandles with white socks pulled up to your knees wink

Though you'd still look like a knob....and a pensioner.

Impreza all the way.
