Hi all,

looking for some advice. Really want a Ford Focus. At the moment I drive a W reg fiesta and love it but the poor thing has quite a bit of rust and has a hole in the sill. Now i'm thinking of getting rid because i think i'm going to have problems on my next MOT.
It passed it's MOT this weekend but had the sill as an advisory so I think i'm going to get a plate welded in, tidy up other areas of rust and sell it! I really want a Ford Focus but I think i'm asking for too much.
My budget is £1500 max and don't mind high mileage but the sort of cars i'm finding are loads of owners and no service history with high miles.
Ideally I want a bit of service history, a couple of owners, NO RUST! and no more than a 1.8 as my insurance is a bit mad. Sorry for waffling but was wondering what you all think is best for me?

would appreciate your advice!
thanks all
Michael

This doesn't really make sense because the sort of Focus you're going to get for that money is probably going to need money spending to pass the next MOT. My dad's Focus is 10 years old, has no rust on the bodywork but underneath theres plenty of surface rust and all 4 springs might need replacing for it to pass the next MOT. I guess you could get what you're asking for if you find an example which has always been stored in a garage, but with a 10 year old car (or similar age) you have to expect things to start going wrong.

I think i am asking for too much. I know theyre really good cars and wear and tear is to be expected but i think with my Fiesta it's going to be hard to sell soon because the body work will be in such a state even though mechanically there's no problems I want something that's going to last much longer.
My Friend has a Focus and has had the usual wear and tear but he really has got his money's worth out of it and it has 170k on the clock.

Just sold mine it was a 52 plate tddi with 210k on the clock, decent nick and i'm sure will plug on for a few more years yet for £1100. So i'm sure there will be something out there for your budget.
