Hi all.
I need soem advise please.
I have seen a Lexus GS300, but it has been described as the following:
",Cat C Damage Repaired,VIC Checked,Excellent Condition."

Should i steer clear of this?

Would appreciate lots of advise please.

bear in mind, if you buy it cheap, when it comes to selling you will have to sell it cheap.

so unless its mega cheap, why not go and buy one thats not been crashed? there cant be a shortage of big engined barges out there!

if its been inspected and you are happy with all aspects of the way it drives, straight and true. Then go for it, ask to see pictures of the damage and get the seller talking, he or she might get loose lips and tell you some info

this is the car, and i doubt this seller will have photos. Ive bought a car off him before and been happy with it.
But never bought a cat rated car before.

Doesnt seem enough of a bargain to warrant the Cat C in my opinion.

Seems expensive. However if you really like the car, find out what damage was caused to the car and get it independently inspected.

Then offer £2k for it biggrin

It's not cheap enough for a Cat C IHHO.

Ditto. I've bought a CAT D before, but it was ridiculously cheap, and looked fantastic. That just isn't quite cheap enough for me, for it being a CAT C
Ok, now i get it.
Will ring them when they wake up and ask what damage it had. Then go and test drive it.

I wouldn't buy a car from a garage where the owner is still in bed at 09.25.

Personally, and this is from having owned 2 Lexus, I would get one that hasn't had that bad an accident. There are loads of these out there for not much more money.

The GS300 isn't a popular car and isn't that much bigger inside than the last shape IS series. And an IS300 is a much better drive etc.

Also, and this could be due to excessive coffee silly , but something doesn't look quite right about the back. Either the exhausts are out of allignment or something is a bit off.

Finally, if you do go and inspect, run your little finger around all the panel gaps - if they are wider than 4-5mm then walk. Lexus gaps are tiny and once crashed hard are nearly impossible to get right again, so I'm told.

I'd take your time to find a straight one, there are quite a few GS300s on Autotrader for around the same price. Bound to be a good one amongst them.
