So I've finally got my first (real) job, and there just might be TVR-buying potential in there...But of course its in central London. I tried driving round there in my mx-5 today, and it wasn't much fun - it seemed to lack sweeping curves and national speed limit signs. It definitely made me wonder why anyone keeps a nice car in London if you can't use it unless you go away at the weekend.

It made me wonder...is it worth living outside of London to have a nice car? 2+ hours of commuting per day for a two hour hoon on sunday morning...? Im not sure I could cope with that...I hate commuting!

Anyone here work in London, but live far enough away to have some niceish driving roads? If you don't mind giving away your secret...where is it?!

Epping in Essex, end of central line, has lots of hoonable roads through the forest/semi-rural location and a tube station.

Do you as presumably a young person really want to live so far from town though?

Seconded. Closer to London is Wanstead, Snaresbrook, Loughton, Woodford, Buckhurst Hill etc. are all quite nice and under 30 mins to Liv St on the central line. No shortage of decent b-roads within a 20 min drive although you have to get up fairly early at the weekend to avoid traffic.

This.

Surrey is also quite boring for us young'uns.. Imo anyway!

I just can't be bothered with driving to London and trying to park there etc.

Its very boring I live in Surbiton. Which is boring too. But its close to decent driving (not that I can be arsed) and its 15 mins from waterloo on the rattler. A good comprimise for me.

...Which is precisely where I live. wavey

Weekend or evening hoon: to Ongar, then north on the B184 to Great Dunmow, across to Takeley, back into Herts for some more hooning...

If my office had a car park then I would agree. But how many jobs in town come with a parking space?

I used to live in Chingford. Ideal as it has overhead direct into Liverpool street or can get a tube from Walthamstow or Epping etc.

Loads of fun B roads if you head out into essex. Loads of great roads through epping forest etc.

Surrey's not all bad! I sort-of live in Morden (well, on weekends anyway) and there's plenty around. Sutton has lots of decent bars (if you avoid the common ones as they're filled with chavs) you generally get a decent night. Plus the rural roads are surprisingly fun and the A3 is only a few minutes away for more fun.

spend the money on a supercar club or something. There is no fun to be had in london. Buy a sensible car then head out pick up the keys to your supercar on the few weekends of the year you chose to head out of the city
