For the non-psychic amongst us;

a car drives through the side of a multi-story car park.

FFS, what a lot of bks. How was it a 'near disaster'? and as for this:

"Lucky: Astonishingly the driver escaped injury - and officials were even able to drive the Mercedes back inside"

how is any of that astonishing? Driver in FRONT: REAR of car through wall, rear window intact...how would driver be injured? Looks like the rear wheels are still in contact with the floor so of course they could drive it back in.

Are the editors who pass these stories as fit to reprint from some US wire service not ashamed of themselves?

Surprising they didn't have crash barriers up against the wall, though.

Ok, I cannot believe i'm siding with the Wail here, but if I'd reversed the rear 1/3 of my car through a wall 7 stories up and walked away unhurt, I'd describe it as astonishing. You'd have shrugged your shoulders, "what's the, problem, wheels are still on the ground"

biggrin

It really pisses me off how Americans can't refer to a car without mentioning the year of it! A 2008 Carola? Oh, well done! It's like watching those morons on cribs. 'Yeah, my whips; a 2016 Yanktank stheap and a '55 Shivelle Bucket'

I'd be pissed off if I was the guy parked below with all that rubble now adorning his car.

Could have been worse. In Sydney in 2006 a bloke drove straight through the wall and died. I posted it before in the bad parking thread but it got deleted as being not inkeeping with the light heartedness. I'd post it but it's too much like hard work on the phone. Anyway, apparently it was 'an accident waiting to happen' according to the inquest, so legislation was changed so that folk can't career through walls when parking, even though most of us seem to manage just fine.
