Surely must have been posted before the first video here is fantastic to watch - seeing that cosworth right at its limit. Not sure what's more impressive, that or the 205 keeping up with it. Great videos just because of the committed driving really.
205 vs. Sierra Cosworth

also (from the hot hatch thread)
205 vs. E30 M3

Anyone got any more video with equally committed driving from both cars on a track day?

An obviously very capable 205 there! However, that Cosworth looks horribly set up. I suspect the owner has bolted on some engine and suspension parts without knowing what on earth they are doing. The rear end is as skittery as anything and it is chucking out huge gobs of yuck on the overrun (possibly intended to be anti-lag). You see a couple of times when he gets it on boost that it walks away, but then he changes gear or starts to brake and ... urgh. I would love to know the story behind both the cars.

The Cosworth driver looks to be having a whole lot of fun to me! The only place the 205 is really gaining on him is under brakes.

Yes that 3-door rally one has anti-lag.

Car in the first clip was just breathing oil on the over-run combined with un-burnt petrol - probably deliberately mapped like that to not run lean and keep everything cool

I'd say that Cosworth was right over its limit a lot of the time. Could it chuck any more fuel out the exhaust pipe too!?

Its not that incredible the 205 is keeping up. It is an Mi16 conversion so packing extra power and the driver seems to know his way around the track.

FWD cars can be exciting too, Jean Ragnotti was a bit good in them:

I want my Cosworth back. It was set up a lot better than that one!

I believe Sierra RS500's were setup to overfuel like mad on the over-run to cool the pistons down?

That video of the rallying Sierra shows how all course cars should drive, and I think fitting them with aggressive anti lag like that should be standard. Of course, only to better alert the spectators of its presence you understand. wink

2wd saff with about ~340 bhp. It was on properly set up coilovers though so you didn't have to chase the back end quite as much as the chap in the video. Seriously fun car but it was a bit much for a daily driver so I got rid of it. Regretted it ever since!

The 205 wouldn't have stood a chance if the Saphire driver was driving instead of trying to drift. No where near the limit of the car. What a waste of track time. Still if it floats his boat then to each their own. rolleyes
