What causes the noise in Top Gear ep with Jeremy's Rover SD1

I was wondering what caused the squeaking type noise that occurred after Jeremy burnt the clutch out in a big cloud of smoke on the Rover SD1 (going up a 1 in 3 incline) in the British leyland £1200 car challenge feature? I unintentionally burnt my clutch recently after beaching the car (eek) and got the same type of noise for a few minutes after. I therefore find myself interested in what causes this noise Thanks in advance.

You mean when he started it up? Loose fanbelt. It did it earlier in the episode, when he started it up at the services right at the beginning.
