I'm 19 and trying to get some temporary cover on an Evo 6 that belongs to my parents whilst they are away for the weekend (with their consent of course).

Can anybody recommend me an insurer that would?

Many thanks.

If it's with their consent get them to add you as a named driver for the weekend, pretty sure that's going to be the cheapest option.

I hate yo tell you, but it wont happen on temp insurance. Getting insured on your parents policy is the only option i would think

That's what I was fearing, their insurance company only cover people aged 21 and over.

Most Temp policy's wont cover you at under 21, most are 25, and if you find one that does, they wont touch you on an EVO. I couldnt find someone to cover me on a 2.0 alfa at 22!

Sorry but ZERO chance.

Your parents might be able to put you on their insurance, but expect a MASSIVE excess!!!

Last year me and my dad were planning on sharing the driving when we drove down to Goodwood FOS. Phoned up his insurance company who was Direct Line and they just declined straightaway due to my age and the car. A Golf GTI Edition 30. Ended up having to take my Fiesta.

For drivers our age, im 20. Things are pretty tough insurance wise.

I feel for you, I'm 22 and been running interesting cars for years but it hasn't been cheap. Things get a bit better when you turn 21; it doesn't get that much cheaper but the list of cars you can get insured on at all expands quite dramatically. I think generally getting insured on anything over group 15 if you're under 21 is next to impossible.

I got insured on my boyfriend's new corsa when I was 19 (£40 for two weeks, bargain) but now at 21 they won't even insure me on his 1/4 206 HDI. I think things have changed, it looks like you've realised it's pretty much impossiboe on your parents' Evo frown

I think you're right. The sort of thing I managed to insure when I was just 17 is now impossible for my younger brother who is now 19.

Yep, being insured on anything classed as a bit "sporty" is awful. Civic type R (EP3, EK9 is £2000+), Evos(from evo 1 onwards), Scoobys. And anything imported is over £2000 pretty much.

So chances of it happening are slim frown
