I bought mine off a AA rep in the high street. Haggled a good deal - about 30% off.

Do what we all do chap.

Listen to them, acknowledge their first price, and then play ball against other prices sought from other sources. The AA are like all service providers, and will be played down given a decent challenge...

I think there is good scope for haggling. I got 75% off the full monty cover this year. Will I be so fortunate next year, not sure?

You can normally get about 50% back via cashback websites such as quidco. Depends what offers are on at the time.

Get yourself a Tesco clubcard credit card, you get 4 times the amount of points when you buy petrol through Tescos and pay on the card. When you get to renewal time on your AA/RAC cover, get a booklet of all teh deals that you can get with your hard saved points and get your cover that way.

I fill up at least twice a week so it's probably more than most, but I get (effectively) free RAC cover for 2 cars, a dirty weekend in a hotel with the wife and most of my Christmas dinner ingredients paid for by the nice people at Tescos!!

What he said. I did ours via topcashback.co.uk we paid about £95 for me and the wife in any car with roadside and national relay and got £42 back via the cashback website. We've already called them out once so its more or less paid for itself.
The amount of cashback you get depends on what level of cover you decide on.
The cashback does take quite a while to come through so its not a quick fix. And, you can also get RAC & Green Flag too if you prefer.
