I wouldn't knock it so quickly.
I know some of the 'practices' aren't the best but atleast it's getting people intrested in older cars which can only be a good thing.
Not knocking it,my series link is already set, I too like to see classics back on the road but to do a proper job is surely going to cost significantly more than the boys spend. I like the show but i can't stand the way they calculate how little they spend on the jobs.
"This one only cost me £600 to sort out. But then i have already paid for my workshop and my fulltime mechanic, otherwise it would have cost me £6000 in labour and overheads..."
I want more reality in my reality shows

I think this is the point of the show... to show you that with a little experience, you can buy a car, do some work to it yourself, and then sell it on. They are just showing you how."This one only cost me £600 to sort out. I think we all know the costs are highly dubious.
The usual cry is 'what about the labour charge!' which is true but I think they are aiming at the home mechanic who likes to tinker with cars anyway, someone who would do the work in their spare time as a project rather than an everyday job. If you were running it as a business you would be stuffed!
It made me laugh the other day when they showed the M3 episodes. Edd had to change the gearbox on the M3, out popped a handy video boreoscope to spy the bolts at the top of the box. Heck only £300 worth of kit that everyone would have.
It did make me feel good though as Edd whined about the heaviness of the exhaust needing two people etc. and the awkwardness of the job even with the car sitting on a 4 post lift. I'd done the same job with the car on axle stands, a couple of trolley jacks, all on my own with no poncey boreoscope
Anyway I like it too, just treat it as not very serious entertainment like that other car show on BBC2.
