Basically, I am trading in my BMW 330d and want a 'motorway cruiser'. Am thinking Jaguar XF, BMW 5 Series (330d) or Mercedes E Class. (Circa) £35k-£40k budget. Am open minded for other cars.

XF 3.0D S Premium Lux is £42k OTR - with a bit of discount should be quite easy to get for under £40k.

Excellent car, 271bhp, 0-60 in 5.9s, great fun to drive!!

Or a slightly used XF-R?

Well have tested the Merc, The Beemer and the Jag XF. Have to say, of all three I much preffered the Jag. As such, am going for a 3 litre diesel Jag.

I realise you've already made your decision, but just for the record I'd spend £15-£20k on a Mercedes S Class and pocket the change :-) I don't think it's necessary to spend double that on a motorway cruiser.
