As of June I'll be commuting 50 miles each way into work. Its just Bath to Cheltenham so I'll purely be using the M5 so hopefully wont be too hard on brakes/clutch/gearbox etc. Now I need a cheap (£1500 max) diesel to do the job. MPG is hugely important and I need to trust that it'll start in the morning. As it stands I've been looking out for HDi engined Pug 306's.

Any other good buys out there?

Focus tddi ? Hardly the last word in refinement, but economical and reliable.
