what car? £7000,
Discussion
Sorry to be the pain but having trouble thinking of other options.
Have £5500 and trade in / sell on my golf, which i reckon is at least 2000 (i hope)
i want something fast ish, hopefully with 4+ "seats"
under 80'000 miles
reasonably reliable, somerset to london lots without breaking down
im leaning towards a 2001/2 TT 225, but what are my other options?
can I get a z4 for that money? anyone selling?

Its definitely not 4 seats, but I'm open to offers...(shameless plug!)http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1701029.htm
I'm running Legacy Spec B as daily smoker and get more and more impressed by it. Combines perfect waft but with enough verve when you want it - no not a hard edged sportscar but spans 2 camps brilliantly.
£7k will get you a lot of Legacy

Or an Impreza if Leggy is a bit too Q car.

Agree on the Legacy Spec B. Awesome cars. The Sport Tourer is nice and practical too (and looks better).
Had ours 18 months now and still impresses me with the way it drives. As fast cross country as some much more specialist machinery I reckon. Simply because it's so well suspended and composed.
Get the manual though which has an STi box(technically the Auto isn't a spec B), it likes to rev and I can imagine the Auto dilutes the fun.

I'd go for a late e39 530i.
You'd get a peach for that money as well. Maybe a late Champers Edition with less than 80k.
Fantastic car for the money and would do what you require with ease.
