Italy Car Hire - Paper license required?

Hi quick question.
I’ve got a hire car arranged with Europcar in Italy. Thing is, I can’t find the paper part of my drivers license. Has anyone any recent Italy car hire experience as to whether they just wanted the plastic bit or the paper bit too?

I travel and hire a car in Italy about 5 times per year, I've never been asked for the paper part.
