Bonjour All,

Right here goes...im the proud owner of a 33k mile DC2 Integra Type R in Champ White which i brought just over a year ago....anyway.
The car is still wearing its original Bridgestone RE010's(and its original brake pads which have been changed for greenstuff, its not been driven hard let me tell you!!)
I phoned up Bridgestone HQ and asked if i could get my mitts on some replacements but they said" we dont do them anymore they are a special tyre" i asked well what shall i do then "get some yokohamas or toyos"...well thanks for the advice i said.
Im going on a bit but does anyone have any ideas on what should replace them with or anywhere which may have the RE010's??
Thanks for your assistance.

Bit harsh Deej. hehe

Try RE050's if you want to stick with Bridgestone.

What about Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001s or RE050s?

Sounds like you have yourself a nice car, I'm looking to get one when I finish my current Uni course. Cheeky question, is it pre 98 spec and what did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? Great find with such low mileage!

Bridgestone don't sell any of their decent tyres in the UK.

Not sure on the lesser models, but the RE010 was discontinued, the RE01R and RE11 are only available from Japan or the US with all the associated import charges. Nengun performance charges about £250 per tyre for 195/50/15s!

These have just come out in a wider range of sizes. I used a set of AD07s on my MR2 last year. Awesome tyre, this is the latest version.

The AD08 is also OE fitment on some Elise models.

Your tyres are 12 (twelve) years old??

Two things - they're dangerously old and if you aren't driving the car properly, I'll take it off your hands. 500 quid, my final offer. I will have to change the tyres after all.

wink

I'd been waiting for these to become available over here.. I'll probably need a new set of tyres this year, will be a tough call between these are R888s.

Get yourself over to www.itr-dc2.com; it’s been a hot topic for some time. The short answer is that there are no stocks of RE010s left in the UK, a couple of individuals have stockpiled a few in their garages but won't be letting them go for love nor money. The replacement tyre of choice is probably the Hankook RS2 (now also becoming difficult to get your hands on, as a lot of DC2 owners are now switching to these) or the Yoko Parada Spec 2.

I ran a set of RS2s and loved them, bags of grip in the dry but not great in the wet. The side wall is not quite as stiff as the RE010 but not far off it. They wear very quickly though, you will be lucky to get 7000 miles out of a pair on the front. I currently am testing out Parada Spec 2s, less grip and squidgier side walls than the RS2 but last a lot longer. They seem to go "off" after a few thousand miles, as initially the side walls felt very stiff. Can't decide if wet weather performance is on par or worst than the RS2.

My recommendation would be to go for RS2s; you should be able to pick them up for £55-£65 a corner from Rare Rims or Camskill. Will have to be in 195/50/15 or 205/50/15 as finding a 195/55/15 tyre that is any good is not easy now a days.

www.tirerack.com

In my part of the world I can buy 2-3 sets of tyres from them including delivery and fitting for the price they cost from a local supplier.

And the award for the most under-used Integra Type R goes to...

Seriously, still on it's original tyres? As prevoisly mentioned not only is the rubber probably well past it's best, but... It's a performance car, why only pootle round to the post office in it?

Get yourself booked onto a trackday with your new tyres and discover what you actually own. Book a couple of sessions with an instructor and keep tyre wear near the bottom of your priorities. biggrin

That's easy to do if the previous owner didn't drive it hard. The age is the bigger issue the rubber will be well past it's best unless stored properly....and fitted on a car is not the way to store tyres.
