I'm selling my wifes car which is one of the cheaper ones in the paper at £3295.

I keep getting texts "I'll give you £2000 no hassle sale"

Yes I'm bloody sure you would.

Finally I have had enough and text back

"I'll give you 1p to fk your wife up the arse - or is that offer too low ?"

Now whilst maybe I shouldn't have, who the hell is going to accept a kick in the balls offer, texted through by someone who hasn't seen the car and hasn't got the balls to even call.

Can I block texts to my phone as I've never seen the point of them.

It's even funnier if you picture Omjid Djalili saying it in a TV advert. "You British have no idea how to haggle!"

Are you saying selling your car is not entirely dissimilar to fking your wife in the arse?

Or what would you have done if he text back offering a shag of his wife in return for the car???

I also had this whilst selling my z3m roadster. The amount of people who thought they were doing me a favour by offering me 3k lower than advertised was truely amazing! I was in no terms blunt with them.

Doesn't matter what you are selling, you'll get someone who can barely speak English texting (always texting...) an offer at half that price. If they do this 100 times in a week, they might strike lucky and find a seller who is desperate for the money or the space and will take it. They get a cheap car, the seller gets rid, everyone's happy. It's irritating for those who are NOT desperate though....

What did he reply? (was that in reply to your offer of botting his wife?)

I partly blame the likes of Mike Brewer with his "'Old yer 'and out son" deals on the TV which convince people they can bid someone in the nuts and get away with it.

But there's an old adage - if you don't ask, you don't get - so I don't blame the chancers too much.

I'd have just replied with "I'll accept £3295, no hassle purchase"

Harsh.

Just because he gave you a cheeky bid there's no need to push his number out on t'internet.

You are a clever one.

Luckily it wasn't accepting my offer nor trying to get me to raise it. Perhaps he was offended that I'd text a stupidly low offer for something that I'd never even seen.

Of course if everyone sent back rude / stupid replies perhaps they would stop doing it.

Agree. It's a 2/3rds offer, which isn't the end of the world. I was offered £300 on a Fiesta advertised for a grand. I sold it for £800 in the end, but I didn't threaten to rape the wife of the person who made the low offer, I just told them to bid higher.

Your car is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Why take offence?

No need to post the guy's phone number on the internet smile

All he did was make a low offer on your car. No reason to be offensive, or angry.
