Ok, so we've got a 1995 Chim 400 and 11 month old twins. I've spent the last 6 months getting it right, and it passed it's mot yesterday, so good times to come for 12 months. But i feel bad about leaving the little men behind when we go for a blast. So.....For Chim money (realistic, not dealer) what could i buy that brings the fun, character and occasion of the tiv? Speed not as important, but fun and noise are. Classic stuff prefered, and really into german stuff (though 944/928's pretty cool) not into autos either, it needs to be fun.ok...........go!

Can you give us a rough idea of what that is? I for one don't have much of a clue without going and doing some research. smile

Are cerbs in the same price bracket? They have rear seats but only you'd know if you could get the twins in the back in seats without chopping their legs off...I guess it depends how tall you are?

Yeah i get that, i did read your first post, it just read like you want something that you can go for a hoon in, with the kids, which i didn't think was a great idea, but if that's not quite what you're looking for, cool.I'm unclear though, do you like German stuff or not?
Not really, no. Coming round to old porsches more now, but not much else other than an m1 does it for me.I've been thinking stag? Avenger tiger? Capri 2.8i? To be honest i love the tvr and would happily hang onto it but life has dictated play!

i reckon you could nail a couple of kids seats on that back shelf until they hit 3.

DB7 for 2+2 practicality

edit - that would be for chim (excellent conditon) money but you wouldn't have a depreciation problem

Why not? Get them on the path that is right and true from the beginning...

You should drop Garlick an email as he has a lovely 944 that is possibly needing a new home very soon, and around the money you are looking at.

Now a cerb i'd love. Both me and the missus are short too, but i couldn't exploit it with the kids in the back and couldn't afford to run it to be honest. The chim is nice and rv8. And reliable too!

Speed not important, character and fun are.
Character and fun mean different things to different people.

V8 Stag sounds like a good candidate, but £6k is pushing it. And in reality the rear seats probably aren't great to get small babies in.

So how about something a little different?

You can get these with V8's and according to the DfT they are the safest vehicle on the road:

Side facing rear seats might be an issue, but solvable IMO.

Along a similar idea, these have a wonderful 4.0 litre straight 6 in, plus better rear seats and open air ability.

Or these come up on eBay from time to time. Available with a 6 pot or V8 motor. The rear half of the roof is removable too.

Or there are plenty of pony and muscle cars with 2+2 or 4 seats.

Or sticking with the RV8 theme:

Stag seems like the best allrounder so far. Not really a fan of off roaders, other than ratty beaten up ones used in the woods.seen a citroen sm for 8k which seems a tad too cheap!

That's bloody awful IMO.

SEC bonnet & gash replica wheels. Even if they are the real deal (forget the name now) they look crap!
ETA- Carat Duchatelete

Easy to get caught out by Saxo VTSs if in the wrong gear & they sound like old CVHs when on tick over.

Good drive though, when 'on it'.

Am I right in thinking the price must be wrong for this car? I thought the were fetching £10,000-£20,0000
