Had a crazy idea the other day that buying one of these things would be fun and that I wouldn't regret it. Please try to talk me out of the idea.

Nice car, but a Chryler 300C SRT-8 is RHD and much cheaper.

Challenger looks good but both he Mustang and Camaro out perform it and with the Stang a much better drivers car.

Running costs should be ok with Hess though. Sure it'll like a drink but no more than any other performance car of similar ilk. And I suspect not really any worse than a Focus ST or Impreza turbo.

The SRT8 is quite a good car these days though, dynamically, still behind the Mustang and the Camaro, it probably looks (arguably) the best and most faithful to the original of the 3, albeit a bit big and slabby. Then again, the Camaro is allegedly like a German pill box to drive and while the 5.0 Mustang has had absolutely rave reviews with it's lighter weight and 412hp, I'm still not a fan of it's new "BMW meets FTO" looks. The cast-iron block GT500 looks way better but doesn't get the Ford GT's 550hp aluminium block until next year.

This is all largely irrelevant though because it involves logic and in terms of fun, compared to nearly all modern cars, it's like comparing Oblivion to a child's merry-go-round and the grin on your face would be permanent, despite any compromises on it's ability or competence. Not many people go for a drive in a muscle car and leave the car there. It's the 60's muscle era in a modern package, what's not to love.

They're all pretty good on fuel these days too though the SRT8 doesn't get the cylinder deactivation of the 5.7 (but who the hell cares, you're never going to allow it to activate).

Do it. NAO.

It's probably absolutely rubbish in normal terms but not ony does it sound like thunder (personal experience) but it also looks cool in the evening gently rolling along. Plus it's unusual here so you'd get a lot of attention. (Though in a bright orange LHD car that might not be a good thing hehe)
