Criteria:
- less than 10 years old
- ideally less than 50k miles
- must be fun to drive
- convertible a bonus
- reliable

It won't be used very often (2-3 times a week for a 5 miles or so journey plus the odd 400 mile round trip on the motorway)

So far I have:
- Streetka (I realise it's at the top end of the budget)
- Sportka
- MX-5
- MGF (although scared off by dire reliability)
- any others...?

Even without reading the criteria... MX-5.

Not the obvious choice (mx5) but...

Too cheap I would say, my wife recently crashed hers and the insurance paid out nearly £5k and it was 6 months older than that with double the miles. Sounds too fishy.

Why so strict o. Things like age and mileage?? At 9 years old with 49k on he clock it's nit really all that different to 14 years old and 75k on the clock. Neither will have manufacturer warranty.

Because through female eyes she will just see an X year old car regardless of mileage etc.

I thought this may come up. I had one of these a few years ago and have a dream of buying my old one back - she will just see this as me doing so! Plus boot too small really
