Hi all,

just taken this car in part exchange but ive never seen one before. Its a Y Reg with 67,000 miles on the clock.

Are they any good and does anyone know how much they sell for?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!!

As with the Proton Wira, its an obsolete Mitsubishi underneath.

They're pretty nasty in my opinion, and yours is worth around £1200.

They got a good review in Evo, the suspension was tuned by Lotus. No idea what its worth though.

never had one but from what i have seen on forums not too bad if you have lowish standards, but a lot of car for the money. Similar to a nissan almera GTI..

I think for about 1.5 k not a lot will beat it at that price..And Handling was done by lotus, something to tell you mates or GF/BF

If you have still got it in 6 months when I change car, I might offer you some money for it...

They're a fair bit slower than the Almera GTI I believe.

Evo rated them quite well but always thought the figures they had for it were off, I am sure it was something like 0-100 in 36 secs. I dont think they look bad but they do seem to be bought by people who want a cheap GTI/Sporty looking car.

Not overly quick but they do handle pretty well.

Switchgear is up to the usual eastern standards but the Recaros are comfortable.

I always liked them.

Smallish hatch, 1.8 engine, 0-60 in 8ish and handling by Lotus. A fair bit to like there IMO.

Got to say, I think many folk see it as nothing more than a Proton, and can't get past that...

Mind you, there really is no excuse for the square exhausts!

Looks like an incomplete prototype, with the bolted on arches and panels. Nasty thing, makes lots of noise goes nowhere.

Do question the 36secs to 100 mind, if 60 is 8ish, 28secs for 60-100 is awful

Funnily enough I saw one the other day.. To be honest, it didn't look bad for what it is. Probably a dependable warm hatch.

I've always liked them, I cant believe people are slagging off bolt on arches though! The 993 gt2 had bolt on arches!

I can remember reading a quick review about this Proton GTI, someone reckoned it's handling was better then the Golf GTI at the time. Can't remember where I read it though I'm afraid, but this was about 10 years ago.

Evo liked its handling and hated its engine, IIRC.

In a sign of how quickly time flies, I think this is the mag I was referring to. I must've been 19 at the time. redface
