Been looking for a Mk1 TT roadster for my sister... she wants a 150Hp front wheel drive roadster..

There dont seem to be many about..... the ones I can find at about 40,000 miles are around 9-10K....

However, for 6-8K you can get a 225 quatro roadster with leather and xenons...

Why the heck are the lower spec ones more expensive than the high end ones? I dont get it!!??!?

Wasn't the 150bhp a later addition to the range? I'm guessing that there aren't any 150bhp models of a similar vintage to the 225 you have seen for £9k?

Correct. The 150bhp came out quite late in the Mk1 TT's life - was it about '04 plate? So are newer and more expensive. At launch it was just 180 and 225 bhp - this was in 1998/9.

Also having had numerous roadsters the 225 is the one to go for, however if she is just looking for a mx5/mr2 and the like the 150 bhp model in my opinion is the best, get a set of rs4's and no one will be any the wiser!!!

edited for the fact i think they with 15s as standard

Only really been looking at 2002-2003..... but yes, good point about age............

We looked at one this afternoon, but I think they are asking nearly 2K too much... its overdue on a cambelt change and the bodywork is less than perfect.. shame as its convienently close :s

Add to that that the higher performance cars of a range are more expensive to insure, tax and run. Someone people just want the car and don't care about the speed, so the prices drop on the higher powered models.
