It was his responsibility to send the log book off so he has to pay the fine. You should have only recieved the green slip from him when he sold it to you.

Can anyone help, we had a car last around a year ago of a friend we only had two weeks and then sold it ourselves as it wasnt suitable, he has now contacted us to say the car wasnt taken out of his name and he has only just recieved a £55 for this (not forgetting we sold it over a year ago with the small green slip) and is telling us we have to pay for it as we never sent the log book? any help wud be good
thanks
Could you clarify? Do you mean he just got £55 or the V5 or log book? Or what? OR do you mean a fine of £55?

When you sold the car did you provide a receipt? And of course kept a copy for yourself?
