Hardcore Porsche GT2 RS Spotted

First pics of 600bhp 911 leak onto the web

These are the first images of the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which have leaked on to the web ahead of the car's official unveiling later this week.

The shots, taken at a dealer presentation, show the new car's wider body and an array of wings, spoilers and carbon fibre bits, while reports suggest that the car will shave around 100kg from the GT2's kerb weight.

When we first heard whisperings of Porsche's plans for a GT2 RS early last year we said that the car could have around 580bhp, but latest reports suggest that the final figure from the twin-turbo flat six could be up to 612bhp.

We also suggested that there would only be 10 RHD examples of the new GT2 RS heading to the UK. We don't know if that's true or not, but the new model will certainly have a very short life - an all-new 911 is only a year away.

The new GT2 RS is expected to be revealed in the metal at this autumn's Paris motor show. Porsche is expected to reveal more details on what is effectively the final hurrah for the current 997 later this week.

You just know it's going to be brilliant.

Very nice car!

Wasn't the original GT2 known as the "Widowmaker"? Does it make this even more of one?

Nice. Can't say that it stands out much - which is a good thing.

Why do I get the sneaking suspicion you're going to need an awfully large pair of testicles to drive that in the wet?

Perhaps a bit dull in styling but will more than make up for it performance-wise, surely?

Get behind the steering wheel, and all will be forgiven...

That thing is amazing looking, love the rear spoiler and side ducts, just nicely different from a GT3 RS.

I need one of these. And a GT3 RS.

If the GT3 cup racing car's anything to go by with 200bhp less and super soft wets... Yes. In fact I'd go as far as to say that the stability control will have to be so clever that it will have a little red eye on the dashboard and say 'I can't let you do that Dave' and not allow you to leave the garage on anything other than a spectacularly clear and dry day.

Its great to see car manufacturers still making raw performance cars in these 'nanny state' days. Fair play to them. Now can we have a Cayman RS or CS please Porsche....

Looks incredible however Porsche still havent sorted out a more appealing method to the side intakes? The Hybrid gt3rsrsrsrsrsrsrsrsrsrsrssrs seemed to solve the issue by just extending the rear quarter panel.
