I keep catching this programme around - love the premise - buy a decent older car, mechanic tarts it up, flog at a profit...however the two guys only ever seem to make a couple hundred quid profit per car which doesnt seem worth it split between two blokes.

Are these two (Mike Brewer & Ed Chyna) just clueless or are the margins in this game just not there? It seems like poor old Ed spends 2 days hammering away at some old dog Brewer has found for £100....at least that was the case with the M3 he bought in the prog I saw most recently....

It's very much entertainment and very little car business.

Dont think there is much reality going on in the show, but I still enjoy watching it. Except for Mike Brewer. He's a tt.

How funny. I was thinking of popping this post up last night! I've been watching it on Discovery Shed addictively over the past few days (Lancia Delta Integrale best so far). I think they may have a Wheeler Dealers marathon on at the mo? Great programme to pass the time anyways!

There was quite a long thread about Wheeler Dealers last week. New series started last Tuesday for anybody that's interested. Tonights episode is a Sierra Cosworth. I enjoy watching it, well the bits where Edd is working on the car, can't stand the other bloke or the time wasted watching him do 'deals' that are blatently all set up.

It's a comedy double act, straight man and clown biggrin, contrived but still worth watching.

Doncha just love Mike Brewer - "This is the best restoration we've done this series - Ed's done a magnificent job and ones like this are worth five grand, but I won't be greedy I'll sell it for four & a half grand" ............ and then gets knocked down to four two and makes only a couple of hundred gross profit ........... and a wacking great loss in reality! Priceless ............ even I can sell a car at way under its value ............ at a stonking loss! Good fun to watch though.

Usually doesn't even clear enough profit to cover Ed's rent and electric bill, but entertaining anyway.

Bit like Top Gear I suppose, entertaining to watch, but just a tad detached from reality. Some lovely old stuff has been on there over the years though.

Aye, but then there wouldn't have had enough to fill the next hour!

Good episode tonight though. Although I know the point of the program is to show what you might be able to achieve in your own garage, it would have been nice to have a wee few minutes showing the work that was done to the gearbox & the cylinder head.

Might just have been me, but I thought when they had the car on the turntable all polished up near the end one of the doors on the drivers side looked a shade out.
