as per title really, just got my tax reminder for the impreza through and its £112.75 for 6 months, on my citroen zx td estate it was just over £115?

one does almost 50mpg and the other about 23mpg.

if it was the other way round i would not have been suprised.

so how does that work?

perhaps. so should i be asking the dvla to look into what i should actually be paying?

anyone with a zx or classic impreza want to tell me how much their tax is?

i know its a very small amount of difference but i want answers.

Did you tax one last tax year and then the price has increased since then?

Both are 'PLG' and the diesel rate is higher.

that must be it, both taxed this year, would love to know if other owners of these cars are being taxed the same amount.

it seems rediculous to me that one does 50mpg almost and the other low 20s and yet the more economical one is the most expensive to tax.

Because according to the previous Gubberment. Cars made before 2001 are less poluting than those after....

or more accurately, they can work the Co2 emmissions into a stealth tax!

confusedWhy? You pay more fuel duty for one which more than makes up for the £2.50 difference.

I don't know why you were charged £115 for the citroen, I think it should have been £104.50

if only it worked like that, i would have a 7.0 v12 and be paying £90 to tax it.

It does seem a bit of a strange one, but my dad's in a similar situation, his 53 plate Evo VIII FQ300 cost's him £186 for 12 months, but his 2002 plate 2L diesel Transit costs him £195 for 12 months. Again it seems the more economical veichal is more expensive to tax

I think its all to do with the engine in your citroen. Like my 306 its got the old XUD engine (replcaed by the HDi). The XUD engine is a lovely solid old lump and great for fuel economy - mine does over 50 to the gallon on the duel carriage way but, they pollute like a coal power station.
I pay £220ish a year to tax my 306 which, I think is slightly more than our petrol golf GTi turbo
