I was changing a tyre tonight on the rear of my V50 and one of the nuts was particularly difficult to get off. I ended up shearing one of the studs through impatience and heavy handedness. I'll let you guess how I actually managed it rolleyes

1. Will it be safe to drive with the space saver on with only 4 nuts fitted?

2. Can it be re-studded, or will the bearing need replacing?

Cheers

Well I've driven a car with only two nuts in an emergency so 4 wouldn't worry me a bit (in fact most cars only have 4).

All the cars I've seen you can simply change a stud about £3 and half an hour's labour.

Perfectly safe to drive on the remaining four. A few quid for the new stud and a bit of labour to fit. This depends on whether the stud can be feed in behind the hub, or the hub has to be removed.

Be thankful it's properly built with studs and nuts, if it had those stupid bolts threaded into the hub, you'd be looking at a new wheel hub.

We prob get a few a month come in (normally people ruin locking wheel nuts or lose the key especially the epically stty tri-lock nuts) - we charge between 20 and 40 quid depending on how difficult the job is. we spot weld a nut on and remove the thread from the hub. Any local garage with someone who knows how to weld properly can sort it - should be safe to drive on 4 or 3 studs but don't leave it too long or go driving hundreds of miles on it.

This advice is only for wheel BOLTS though, and the OP is asking about STUDS.

We sort studs too - may need to remove the hub - depends on the car

Edit - My point being most garages will sort it for you

I had one snap on my Disco when the wheel came off due to untorqued alloy wheel nuts. The disco studs were pressed into the hub, so we just knocked the broken stud out with a drift, and pressed a new stud in. Nice and simple. Hope yours is too...
