Second topic of the day in here! But what are the rules on driving in europe e.g age, insurance etc... Thinking of planning an epic road trip across europe, but don't wanna plan it and then realise i cant actually do any driving smile

Post up possible routes as the rules and requirements will be slightly different between the various countries.

As far as I'm aware, there aren't any restrictions. Make sure you have proper insurance and breakdown cover, hi-vis vest and all your license and docs with you.

And the usual triangle, spare bulbs, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, snow chains, etc
Not all countries require them, buy the OP didn't say where and when the road trip is happening. If you stay within EC countries your insurance will probably say you don't need a 'green card' tell them you want one anyway, especially if you are visiting Bulgaria.

Are you hiring a car or taking your own?

Speak to your insurance company if taking your own, otherwise check the hiring terms. As for age etc, as far as i know if your licence is full and you're covered, then it shouldn't be a problem.

eta: OP, Do you wear contact lenses? some countries insist you have access to a pair of glasses in the car.
