How bad is the north west section of the M25 these days? Live in Aldershot and just putting in for a contract job near Rickmansworth. Only 40 miles but how long is the M3 Junction 4 to M25 Junction 17 realisticly likely to take at rush hour?

Currently 50mph from the m40 to junction ~20 and roadworks, so pretty horrific.

It's st.

Add an extra 30 mins at rush hour.

On the upside you can look at the "private plates" in the cue and have a giggle at the owners knobness. hehe

M3 -> M40 on the M25 took me about an hour and a half a few weeks back, absolute nightmare. Worse because of the roadworks.

You can pull off at the M40 and off again at the Denham roundabout and through the back roads to Ricky. It's not perfect but if its clear it's more fun than the M25

Shh!

You can go down the M4 and come off at the Heathrow T1, T3 junction and head towards Uxbridge (A408) then head towards Denham, Maple Cross. But never in the evening.

Can be hit or miss, sometimes as bad as rush hour, sometimes it's moving.

I assume you are talking about the same bit as the OP?

Yeah, need to get to Leighton Buzzard from Croydon. Really can't be bothered to deal with driving through town, so thought I'd go M25 and off at either the A41 or M1...

No easy route by the loks of things though....

Nope smile I go from the M4 to Leatherhead every morning and the traffic going that way is 95% of the time better than the direction you will be going.

The A41 isn't a stupid idea...

No, the A41 is very quick to Aylesbury IIRC, but not sure about cross country after that to LB. If the M25 is clear I will stay on but if its solid I might head up the M40 and then try cross country...

If you go up M40 come of at Beaconsfield and head towards Amersham/Chesham. From there head towards Berkhamsted on the A416 towards Ashley Green then onto A41.

My mum lives there but they've just flogged their house so i'm sure she won't mind!
