the MG ZR

Ive picked up a 52 plate 1.4 + model for a great price with a new head gasket.

Im really chuffed with the grunt from the 1.4, in the dry it sticks to the road like st to a blanket, makes a half decent sound as well. The OH doesn't like it when the road gets twisty and my foot stays down!

Granted there are minor build quality niggles, gotta keep an eye on the coolant, its not that roomy or comfy or economical but fk it...we have no kids and no need for a practical motor! The niggles I can sort out easily enough and I find the more you look after a car the less things break!

Anyone else share my thoughts?

You want the truth or praise for getting a good car relatively cheap ?

The truth. Just interested in other peoples thoughts and expreiences of them. I know they arent everybodies cup of tea, maybe considered a bit barry boy, unreliable, etc. Id just like the thoughts of the ph community as I havent seen them mentioned much on here.

I've never driven one, but I'm not a huge fan of the image and I have heard a fair amount of negative press about them. But if you got it cheap enough it should be a good run around.

If you've bought it, why seek approval?

^^ Maybe he just needs a bit of positive reinforcement?

I don't like them. Hated the blue one I drove for 2 days.

I don't hate them, I just wouldn't want to own one.
The constant jokes about it being my missus' car, plus changing the HG as often as the oil would probably grate after a while.

They seem to be everywhere TBH. How the hell did MG/Rover fail when on every journey I take I see several examples of this car either parked or being driven.

Or maybe they are all the same ones but just following me around....scratchchin

My mate had one (two after he wrote one off). Apart from minor bits of trim falling off, i.e. the door cards and entire glovebox, it was a great car. Fast enough and good grip!

They go quite well, but feel quite archaic from behind the wheel...
