What would be faster? McLaren SLR 722 or a Ferrari 599 GTO?

I would have guessed they'd have about the same performance in a straight line but the 599 GTO would be quicker on the twisty stuff.

So, apparently, quicker to 62 by a considerable margin, and a top speed which may well depends upon which way the wind is blowing...

I think that's a bit of an overstatement, don't you... A quarter of a second is about the average human's perception/reaction time.
