My mum has recently broken her hip and and although ok her leg is now a bit shorter and not very flexible , she wants to keep driving but is having trouble now reaching the clutch pedal on her Corsa , she is quite small and always had to twist herself to fully depress it !

Is there anything out there that could help her , getting an auto is not an option she is 86 and i do not think would adapt that well !!

Find her an old and rare Saab with a sensonic gearbox, ie manual change automated clutch?

The other option would be to get a custom pedal box (popular with kit car and race car builders) set up to fit her driving position.

Or maybe just a huge chock of wood bolted to the clutch pedal?

Failing that she's probably entitled to a free bus pass at her age!

I had though about a block of wood , but thought that there might be some sort of conversion out there , maybe a new peddlebox , she could improve her heel and toe tecnique !!!

Looks like those clever Indians have come up with an answer:

Seriously, from a safety point of view I'd worry about the level of clutch control your mum still has, and think again about an automatic.

I remember a documentary about dwarves, and they had special bolt on chocks so they could reach the pedals....
