Passed what looked like a classic (from 100 yards) but as I got closer, being in the trade, the first thing I noticed was that the car had a Nissan Micra (K11) windscreen fitted to it.

Couldn't get a proper look at it to see any identifying badges, but the bonnet and front wings were very retro (chrome grill) with possibly even running boards.

Quick browse through some images and I'd say the style is based on (or similar to) an old MG:

Bingo! Although I do recall the front being somewhat different to this; the rear of this one is very clearly a Mirca whereas the one I saw wasn't as immediately obvious.

What is it called?

As stated its a Mitsuoka. Theyre principally retro-converted Nissans although Mitsuoka do build some of their own chassis. Mitsuoka are recognised officially as a manufacturer in Japan, but unlike RUF in Germany, they dont have their own VIN prefix, with the converted cars retaining their original Nissan chassis numbers.

Good luck to him. With their sharing the Nissans chassis prefix it made the damned things virtually impossible to identify at auction; and to price accurately (on auction history). I didnt manage to buy even one Mitsuoka in Japan.....

I see these abominations regularly living in Japan. Just one of many examples of a car designed by a 6 year-old over here. I'm so glad the majority of these turdboxes don't get released in the UK.

On the plus side, I also get to drool over a Skyline of some sort pretty much daily along with many other cars I dream of owning one day.

Is this website a joke? Most of it looks like they have copy and pasted Japanese text into Babelfish!
