I was grinning like a little school girl all the way home! Turns out insurance is a lot more in Manchester than Loughborough, so just needed something to tide me over for the summer months. Engines a little coarse but its a really fun car to drive. Was most worried about how slow it would be but its nippy enough around town, struggles a little at motorway speeds but I'll forgive it that. It'll be a lovely summer run around, might even keep it longer if I carry on having this much fun!

Why not? A car you can rag to its limits without losing your license can be more fun, more of the time, than a car you can't get halfway through its potential on the Queen's highway, especially if you're in traffic most of the time. The highes won't be so high, but you're there so much more smile

I wouldn't say I prefer it but its just a different type of fun. I was fully expecting it to be a miserable experience, believe me but its just a wheel at each corner, a steering wheel and not a lot else. I can leave it where I want, I don't have chavs hanging off my bumper, the costs, I can put my foot down and not worry about if I'm at license losing speeds a few seconds later

Yes I'd take the Scooby back straight away (and will probably get something similar to that I'm back) but the little Ka has exceeded my expectations

As I have no car right now I've been driving my girlfriend's. They're ace fun to chuck around.

I drove my ex's a few months back, let's just say I thought it was gunna topple over after taking one of my favourite roundabouts at 40 that can be took at 100+ in my EP3 laugh

Suprising isn't it? I had one for a hire car for a few days a massive step down in power from my daily driver, but i didn't care. Hustling it down twisty roads was genuinely good fun. All about preservation of momentum smile

I still think the Sportka is one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. We bought one as a cheap commuter car - the aim to keep it for a year and get rid. We've still got it now 6 years on as I just can't part with it. Makes me smile just as much as driving the Westy of the Evo. The standard cars are just as much fun only with lower limits.

Ford really hit their handling sweet spot with these, the Puma, and the same era fiestas.

You "take" a roundabout at over 100?

Nice to see someone also realises that it is not all about bhp.

Some of the best driving experiences I have ever had have been in low powered cars. I derive far more enjoyment / satisfaction from maintaining momentum in a low powered car through forward planning, use of gearbox etc than just planting the throttle in a high powered car and let grip, high bhp and electronics do the job for me

The Ka has always been an entertaining little steer. Has anyone had a play in a SportKa at all?

I had a new Ka3 back in 1997, kept it for 3 years and boy was it fun to drive.

Didn't do much for my rufty tufty biker image but I didn't care, I was hoping my son would get one when he was 17 but he went for a Micra. rofl
