I know I'll probably get a "What did you expect?", but -

New front tyres last Winter, tracking 'done', both at KF, because it was last minute and nowhere else was open.

Tyres now balding at outer edges, looks like tracking was probably never done.

Manager at KF said: Tracking guaranteed for 30 days only, tacking should be checked every SIX WEEKS! Would I like to buy some more tyres?

Tyres: Michelin Energy Savers
Car: 1.25 Fiesta (hardly an EVO X)

Tracking can easily be knocked out by a pothole, so I'm afraid he's right. If you monitor your tyres more regularly, you can spot uneven wear and swap tyres round accordingly. Which is not to say I have not been in your shoes before..
