Hi, would anyone be able to help me out please?

Are the cheap 'my text check' type car checks any good? Or is it best to pay for the more expensive ones?

In my experience (think it's the 83600 service I've used in the past) they give all the info of the proper HPI check with the exception of the outstanding finance check.

Depending on the price of the car, you may or may not feel an outstanding finance check is necessary.

I have found https://www.mycarcheck.com/ to be reasonable. You get a certificate on the post as well.

But I don't know if you're looking for a quicker way than using the web to do your checks.

I've always used the RAC. £10. Immediate fully comprehensive report covering everything you need to know.

RAC used to be awesome value, originally £5, then went up to ten (still good value), now its £15 which only places it £5 away from the higher protection full fat HPI check. £5000 vs £30000 cover.
