This is happening more and more frequently,,

Today i was behind a car travelling along a straight road when it just stopped to let to young men cross the road,,,which they did and forcing about 6 cars to stop behind the first car......WTF

When cars are turning right is it part of the highway code to let every car coming out of that junction out.

When driving along a straight road in free moving traffic, stop and allow cars from sidestreets to join the main road and force cars to stop behind the car that is waving everyone out

In the right circumstances its ok. I was on my (push) bike, when I needed to cross a busy ring road. Its queueing quite far in 1 direction. The guy left a massive space and waved me across so I could see the other side of the road. Didn't slow anyone down, but it made it alot safer to cross.

It depends what mood I'm in with regards to allowing people and cars out/across.
Though I tend to always allow kids to cross, and always allow good looking girls/women too biggrin

Yes, they often are "too" polite, and as such, it causes problems. Example. I was following a car along a fairly empty road, and another car appeared at a side-road. The idiot in front of me slammed on the anchors to let the other car out. I have no idea to this day why they did that... it would genuinely have been quicker for all concerned if the rights of way had been respected. The car at the side road could have pulled out into the gap behind me.

Thats why if i let cars out, before i do i look in my mirror and see if there's a long queue!! if there's heaps of people behind me then i'll gladly let 1 car out, if there was only 1 or 2, after we pass they'll have plenty of time to move out! Simple!

I paused at a roundabout to let 2 pedestrians cross. Got a load of abuse from some knob jokey in an A5 who was late for a hair cut.

Was stuck behind a woman in a Getz doing 40 in an NSL on the way to work on Monday - infuriating enough but forgiveable, but then she did an emergency stop because there were two magpies in the road.

Too polite? No.

Too stupid to hold a driving licence when I'm Prime Minister / King / God? Absoflippinglutely.

Are car driver too polite? No they are fking bell ends.

I decided to pick up my daughter from school today as it is a nice day.

Picture the seen as we arrive in the village that we live. It's quite a narrow, but at times busy road, which when there are parked cars can become congested.

As I arrive at the most narrow part, near the doctors surgery we have the perfect storm. Afternoon surgery, so cars parked everywhere, and 2 school double deckers trying to make their way. It looks pretty congested, so I decide that I will wait patiently at the top of the parked cars, and allow the buses to get out of the way.

fking prick in his Astra decides to go round me and into the mellee. Why? He gained about 10 seconds, had to mount the kerb.

He also seemed to be trying to bk me for letting the buses through. fk knows why.

Not sure where I got this from but is it not true that regardless of the situation once a pedestrian has stepped onto the Queen's highway they then effectively have right of way and all other traffic must wait until the pedestrian has reached "safety" and stepped back off the highway?

Presumably some century old law or somat?
