So has anyone got one here if so what mpg are you getting combined these are supposed to be ave 74 & 86 mpg so I'm also wondering given that's the average has anyone who owns one breached a genuine 100+mph trip?
A chap at work has one he freely admits it was choosen for co car tax reasons he always used to have higher powered petrol cars and he makes no big claims that's it's anything more than a 100bhp tdi golf with a nice level of torque for what it is. Now as he has this car he keeps himself interested with constantly trying to get the highest possible mpg he can from the thing. Apparently even in heavy London congestion he has never had under 55mpg and on a nice m way run London to torbay he got into the 80's mpg and he checked that brim to brim - as he does for all trips partly to ensure the milage he is being paid is covering the fuel cost plus to see what profit / pay rise he is getting from economy driving.
He does generally drive at 65mph as he finds that is the sweeter spot for economy over 70mph and even on his longest visit to a client the time difference is well under ten mins.
I've not had a drive in one yet but would love to have a go. I know when traffic is flowing but not possible to make progress I drive as economically as I can giving more fuel to have fun when it clears that said the big 330d really will not go under 38 mpg over a tank no matter how hard I drive it with a best to date of just over 50mpg.
Do I miss petrol noise .. Of course only a pleasant sounding petrol Id love a vette but frankly running one would mean a skiing holiday less a year for the family... Hard tp justify it for a commute

Had a BMPolo as a courtesy car while my 944 was in being repaired once.
Over about half-a-tank I saw about 58mpg average on the dash display unit, and a single journey best of 74mpg (late Saturday evening run from Guildford to East London.) I'm sure that's below the stated figures.
However, that aside, it was possibly the nastiest car I have ever driven. High max torque, but the torque band was about 500rpm wide. Wouldn't do more than 80-something MPH flat-out. Handlingto die for that makes you worried you will die. Understeered for Britain, and had slightly less grip than a milking cow on wet grass. Pov-spec interior with no flair or style whatsoever.
A true one-trick pony. And (I suspect), exactly what the government would like us all to drive.
Oli.

I've a 2.0TDI Passat bluemotion 2, and its regularly giving me 1000 miles to the 70 litre tank
Heres my best on the 23 mile commute to work, over 8 miles A class roads, 14 miles motorway, 1 mile of industrial estates...

So, yes, i'd say the Polo and Golf are capable of breaking the 100mpg on a journey. The trick is to use cruise control as much as possible and gradual acceleration.

I have a Golf mk5 Bluemotion Match. It's a company vehicle and the tax banding was a major selection factor. The shortlist also had the Focus 1.8 and Civic 2.2 oild burners. 4 doors, 5 seats, diesel and comparable lease costs to the curtrent car were boxes that must be ticked.
The car has the older 1.9TDI engine with a 5 speed manual box. Gearas 3, 4 and 5 are longer that the standard 5 speed box, the ECU is remapped but there is no difference is power, torque, acceration number and the top speed is 1mph higher due to improved aerodynamics and lower ride height. The tyres are the low rolling resistance ones and the combination works well. It's very quiet but the ride quality is smoother than my wife's estate on 17" rims and lowered ride.
Real world driving will get 50+ around town from cold, 60+ on every tank full to date and 76on a run is my personal record. My driving stile is light of foot but on the limits where I can. There is a noticable mpg improvement at 60 over 70 on nthe instant trip computer readings. Overall I like it.I did not need to alter my driving style for it and get much better mpg returnes than my old Focus without needing to think about it.
The thing that I am imressed with is that the Bluemothion technology is now being rolled out across a lot more of the VW range. Most of the changes can be done without needing anything fancy, the increased part cost is offset by increased production volumes and the diver is very unlikely to notice. What disapoints me is that the full monty Bluemotion package is not avaialable accross the trim range. Someone please tell me why I cant have a Mk6 Bluemotion Golf except at the entry trim?

Presume you mean 100mpg?WB, are you regretting buying your fast, luxurious and refined 330d and secretly coveting an asthmatic skinny-tyred VW Polo??

Even this morning while making normal progress I noticed a high reving noise (with K&N no doubt) glanced over and it was some boy racer on a mission... I eased back to get out of his way but clearly I found it most amusing to see a petrol really trying hard and I was merely going about my business... I guess he probably thought I "was on it" and then bottled it & he took me...
Note 4th gear 30-90mph oh my that is sweet. TWO (Throttle wide open) in manual not kick down it is goes like stink. In fact 5th or even 6th doesnt make too much difference to the rate of acceleration cloud 9

Don't BM VW's come without any air con? That would make it a complete non-starter for me.
No, the BM Polo I had did have AirCon. (Which surprised me; they'd thrown everything else out in the pursuit of efficiency. I suspected that a spec sheet without "Air Con" would make the car simply unsellable to the great unwashed. Cynical?) Oli.

It comes as standard on the passat - as does cruise control, an optional extra on the others.
