As my licence is 10 years old the nice people DVLA have given me a choice - send them a new photo and £20, or take the bus.

However it doesn't seem to say when they need the stuff back by - any idea?

^What he said^

Its a stealth tax of the largest proportion known to man.

£20 processing costs to change a picture?

I've just had to renew mine.

The letter that comes with it tells you exactly when your current one expires!

Nice little stealth tax too, £20 to change a picture!

The only picture I could find (printed) was the same one as last time. So I spent my money to 'renew' one photo with the same photo.

They didn't mention / notice it.

hmm, must dig mine out.Driven for over 10 years on a photo license. I presume that means it expired some time ago!

Thanks, that does make sense; I will have to dig it out. However Government logic is not always that predictable; they might demand it a month sooner for some bizarre reason; I would have felt more sure seeing a 'must be received by' line.

My paper one fell apart and was then held together with tape! Had to get a new one just incase I was refused a hire car at some point. However it's good Id so saves wear and tear on my passport, the previous one wore badly and I was nearly refused checking in on a plane due to it's state.
