I used to use an R26 F1 regularly - to be honest it was ok - not sure I would choose it over a mk5 Golf GTI but it was good fun with great handling. Despite this, the ride was dreadful as was the torque steer in the wet, but it was very fast. Interior was ok but not a patch on a VW or even something like a Vauxhall Astra VXR. The Recaros in the F1 weren't as supportive or comfortable as the standard Renault sport seats in the 225. Exhaust note was pretty lame too. Went back for a few recalls but nothing major - wrecked it's front tyres every 10k - If you can get one cheap I'd go for it - look lovely in liquid yellow (The one I had was blue - not quite as striking)
I had an R26 for a year, before switching to an R26.R. Absolutely blinding all-rounder, moreso than my current Focus RS, I reckon. No need for an R26.R really, unless you plan on regularly going out on circuit. The .R just has an edge that most people won't require.

Funny you mention torque steer in the wet, I've never really found that to be the case although I'll agree the seats aren't the best over long distances.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
