Mystery-car quiz #2
Discussion
Two suggestions that were posted in quiz #1 (I accidentally placed these pics in the first quiz before I started this one).. I'm a newbee, you know
.
Crusoe: "looks like a Lola T70 spider though the rear air intakes aren't right."
Striking resemblance in the front part indeed.
BriSK: "something matra-ish?"
I could not find a suitable Matra candidate, unfortunately.

Maybe something like this, quite a few Elvas look similar...

Roger Dunbar from www.elva.com wrote it was no Elva... I wonder if this mystery will be solved. It must be possible!
I was able to read the sticker on the front wing as "historique racing club Provence", maybe they would have a record though it suggests the car is authentic from the 50s/60s rather than a kit car. I had a look at some of the club histric races in France but couldn't see it in any of the track photos.

Yes, I have done the same and I follow the same logic as you... There seems to be a club with that name, but no website nor an e-mailaddress... There was a part of an entry list of the Historique Grand Prix de Provence, but there seems to be no candidate. The car must have been for sale about the time we saw it. The French registration number with WW means it is a temporary plate (one month).
I have send a message to someone from sports.racer.net to see if he has a clue. I have send a message to a French kitcar-website as well. Keep you posted about that.

Festival de l'automobile de Mulhouse, France, July 2009... It took part in the Grande Parade. Information supplied by event organizers in France is very, very scarce. They do not publish entry lists or whatsoever.
Merde. That's that idea out of the window then.....!Going by exhaust positioning and wheels I would think it is based on something along the lines of a Gordini Renault saloon like this..........
R8
SOLVED
I posted this picture in a French kitcar-forum (thanks to google translate, my French is miserable). One of the very few suggestions I got there was that it could be a modified Marcadier, maybe known by some of you for their replicas of Lotus sevens, Cobra's, GT40's and 550's. Before they started producing replica's, they made some race cars through the seventees. Take a look at http://www.marcadier.com, also available in English!
But no, Pierre Tedeschi from the club told me it was no Marcadier!. Luckily for me, he did know what it was then.
It is a Dangel "Mangouste".. I had never heard of the marque before, but he was right! It was the first car built by Henry Dangel and some 27 cars were eventually produced of this model from which only a few survive to this date. I have found a blue one and a red one which could be this example. It was for sale in France (€20.000-€25.000) and it is not street legel.
Some facts translated from the French ad:
Measurements: Length: 3.65m; width: 1.54m; height: 0.75m; weight: 460 kg.
Engine: 4 cylinders in line; (Renault 8 Gordini); 1255cc; 100/120hp; 2 double Weber carburettor
Transmission: rear wheel drive, 5 speed manual gearbox
15 inch wheels; four brakes (type not specified); and some other things I cannot translate!
Body is made from fiberglass and polyester.
Dangel started building these cars in 1967; it got its name in 1969 at the Genève motorshow.
L100 can be credited because he saw the connection with the R8 Gordini!
Hope this is of interest!
Best, Job
