The Bugatti EB110 drove past Newport Pagnall during the Aston auction at lunchtime today. Sadly I didnt get any pictures and it didnt stop, but it did drive past twice.

The Bristol and Corvette were both at Silverstone for the Aston race day

Never seen either before in the flesh, so very excited

Like all Bristols it's designed to appeal to people with more money than sense.

They certainly seem to successfully repel the sort of people you wouldn't want associated with your products.

The interior would repel me if it was a £10k car, for what, £300k? its pathetic.

I'll have a Pound off everyone who says "It doesn't matter what you think, you can't afford one!" wink

What is the Vette? Is it original or a special/kit based on a standard roadcar?

More sense than money surely? It's not styled, it's engineered. That's sort of the point. Nothing is on there because it's flash, everything is there because it's doing a job. Look at where the spare wheel goes on the Blenheim for example.

Some of the detail on the Fighter is awesome.

A drag coefficient of .28 is pretty bloody decent for something that needs to cool such a large engine. Things like providing room for a full sized spare are not usually considered on a car of this sort.

That must REALLY help in cornering on roundabouts and left hand bends too - the weight of a full sized tyre and wheel that high up on one side of the car - Genius! wink

I quite like the Bristols in the way I like the idea of Morgans - They're anachronistic, but I think Bristol mainly sell cars because they're weird AND because people still believe all the 'aircraft engineering quality' guff they still propogate.

Martin Buckley says in the latest C&SC, "I wouldn't want to fly in a plane built like the Bristol"... I don't always agree with him, but I see his point here - It's BS, pure and simple.

I'm sure as the owner deploys 500-1000hp to the tarmac, the thing he'll be thinking about most is you thinking its ugly.

Also the interior will still look the same and still be working in 20-30years which is more than can be said for others used as everyday cars.

Good spots - Anyone know if that Bristol in the showroom for quite a while around 18 months ago? I remember a 'different' coloured Fighter in there but cant remember the exact colour.

What nonsense - it's about six inches higher up than the wheels on the road. Does your car fall over with people in it, given the horrific effect that must have on the centre of gravity?

Who has claimed otherwise?

There is certainly a lot more to something like a Fighter than initially meets the eye. The fact that most people can't see past the fact that it don't look bangin like Lambo innit is surely a good thing.

It's not beautiful, but it's purposeful and there are hints of Alfa TZ in the shape, especially at the back.
