For a few years I have run my G33 on Dunlop SP9000' sized at 215/50/15. This size is hard to get and as the rears were worn I went for some Toyo proxes T1R's at the slightly larger size of 225/50/15, keeping the part worn Sp9000's on the front.

The handling was transformed! The car was so scary to drive, twitchy, tramliney, prone to suddenly veering one way or another, feeling like the back would step out at any minute. It was hateful!

I replace the SP9000's on the front with today with T1R's at 205/55/15 (same diameter as the rears, but the 225's are too wide for the fronts)and the car is a joy again! All of the unpleasant issues above are gone. Turn in is precise, no tramlining, better feedback, trhe rear feels planted even when hitting a tight bend a bit too fast.

I never realised the effect of different tyres could be so huge, tread patterns are virtually the same.

Thanks to Neil Garner for suggesting the tyre mix could be the problem. He told m ethat T1R's dont mix well with other tyres. How right he was.
