I'm looking at making a modification to my car and mount a central long foglight into the rear valance in the centre between the 2 exhaust outlets. The exhausts should be far enough away to not melt the light and it does not get particularly hot where I'm thinking of mounting it.

Must be weatherproof so any dedicated bumper mounted modern foglamp will be ideal.

Can anyone recommend a good lamp to fit - seen any good ones lately on any moderns cars?

No makes or models spring to mind at present.

Pics would be great too if you have time smile

Thx

I'm sure companies make aftermarket high-level brake lights? Surely that would be much the same kind of thing if you can find one designed to fit on the outside of a car. Maybe one designed to fit to a spoiler?

ETA: There seem to be lots of such things on ebay.

Maybe, I think many are mounted partly into the body so may not be weather proof?

Hence, looking for a dedicated foglight - must be long & slim to fit where its going.

Street Ka is not a bad idea - I could fit 2 and they could compliment the tail pipes, maybe?

Jap cars tend to have the under bumper style foglight fitted to one side, you know the sort - first invented back in the early 70's wink

Thanks guys - getting close now.

That is good but a bit too round and oval - I'm needing a longer, narrower version if possible.

A bit like this but shorter:-

My MX5 has the high level brake light wired up to the fog light switch. Perfectly legal too.

I think the high level brake light is too high to pass MOT regs for me to do the same but good idea though.

Needs to be around 200-250mm and a max of 35mm high (wide) and probably upto 100mm deep is OK.

Good options on NFAuto site there thanks to the person who posted that smile

Might order a couple of different ones to see if any suit.

What about the 3rd brake light from a BMW MINI? They are about that size and available with red, clear or smoked finishes.

In my application, the rear of the lamp will be exposed to spray off rear tyres.

I wonder, is the BMW MINI one partially internal in that it flush fits into a body panel or lamp housing?

That could be a goer then!

It is oval and I wanted a long one ideally but it is small enough and oval enough to not look out of place.

FWIW it's fully waterproof and on the Cooper S is exposed to the spray sucked up from the battery box and also the heat from the exhaust only 2 inches away with no head shielding.
