I want to hire a people carrier in the UK and drive to the South of France and return it back in the UK. Anyone know which companies do this, and also which ones offer a good rate/service? Hertz seem to do it, but they don't tell you how much the euro cover is, and the others I have looked at don't seem to mention it.

I would not be hiring one unless I needed too, not my idea of fun, but 5 adults and 1 child for a 2000 mile round trip do not compute.

Chrysler Grand Voyager will have the most room for that configuration if you can find someone who rents them.

Renault Espace. There are far more Renault garages to repair it when it breaks down.I wouldn't fancy my chances in a chrysler.

Already thought of espace or s-max, but its more important where I can get a good price on hiring onesmile I am guessing they all drive roughly the same and so aircon and fuel comsuption are more important as it really will just be a bus to get us there.

Anyway, I am more interested if anyone knows which hire companies allow you to drive to Europe, rather than the exact model smile

Actually, how much luggage will you be taking, with 6 people you won't have that much room left.

Get something like a Vivaro LWB with 2 or 3 rows of seats, and you have a lot of space left for luggage.

I wouldn't know where to go for rentingn one tough.

I you can't find anything in the UK then what about taking the ferry as foot passengers and then renting in france near the other terminal?

Cheaper fare on the ferry
Cheaper rental as you're paying in €
No probs with borders

The only hassle is getting from home to the ferry, but as you're in hampshire that shouldn't be too hard.

Can't hire a brit car here, drive it over to Calais and swap it for a LHD car over there? I did the same, but in reverse last year when I had to leave my car at the Nurburgring.
