Interesting that the police don't appear to care.

The contrast being, of course, the chap who put up a sign warning motorists of a speed trap around the corner, and was then given points on his driving license as punishment.

(That said, drivers who speed in 30 zones are feckin' idiots, and if there *really* is a problem on that road, and it's not just some bored local being a tool, it's actually quite an interesting approach smile )

surely you can't say everyone that speeds in a 30 is a feckin idiot - i bet you and everyone on here doesn't strictly adhere to a 30 100% of the time!
I certainly don't - 30mph in a 30 zone is often far too fast for the circumstances and occassionally too slow. wink

don't 100% know exactly were this is, but I know the road, and bit of should not really be a 30 limit....

Reminds me of that 'RoadCamera' guy who uploads pics and videos of petty misdemeanors onto some website. Videos complete with running commentary while he drives..

Quite. How does this not come under the heading "taking the law into your own hands"?

It was on www.betterdrivingplease.com, but I think the site has been deleted now!
BBC did a piece about it a few years back.

What happens when someone sees it at the last minute, brakes heavily and causes an accident? Has the 'flake cam contributed to the accident?

I try to. Sometimes I fail, but only by relatively small amounts. 30 zones should be stuck to, IMO. And you should realise that my comment was directed against people who speed significantly, and not those who creep to 32 accidentally. wink

It's all about karmic balance - being sensible and slow in 30 zones makes up for my outrageous behaviour elsewhere. Somehow. biggrin

Local village near me erected fake camera warning signs recently.

They were taken down (don't know by who though) within a week.

The scamera partnerships are not liable if you crashed due to a official one so unlikely.

I kind of feel sorry for the guy if he has had to go to those lengths to try and calm peoples driving, possibly has kids or pets and realises that if they get out they are dead.

someone did a simler thing near me years ago, but atcualy made it out of metal or wood. it looked very real unless you had a good stare at it and noticed that it was the wrong shade of yellow.
its still there now (atleist 5 years later) although looking a bit moss covered

In many of the local villages we have fake "cameras" - in fact just rectangular board painted yellow - enough to make you look twice anyway...

However! I just today drove past a cardboard camera replica! Which btw puts that one to shame (has sticking out lenses (cardboard tubes) and everything!) - I'll do my best to take a pic next time I pass it!
