Hi

I emailed a small independant dealer regarding the S/H and condition of the car, and what warranty he would offer. He didnt reply that day, so I called and when asked about warranty, he said he usually gives 1 month with each sale. Later the next day, he replied with:

"Hi Louisa thanks for your enquiry. I do have some history but not full. The car has come in through a main dealer and was bought with warranted mileage. The condition is very good throughout...." etc etc.

What does he refer to when he says "come in through a main dealer and was bought with warranted mileage"? he bought the car from a dealer with warranty in the form of miles rather than months, warranty still being under the main dealer?

Don't quite get why he would be selling a car he bought from a main dealer if this is the case, surely he'd be making marginal if no profit. Its an 02 reg hyundai too, 53k miles, so he won't be referring to the 5 year manufacturers warranty.

Some clarity on his reply would be great.

Cheers

All it means is that the mileage was guaranteed as genuine when purchased from the dealer. Its nothing to do with a vehicle warranty. He's probably bought it at auction where its a common term in the sale description. Dealers often put surplus stock and part-ex cars through auctions.

Ah yeah of course. Thanks.
Car in question is a very low mileage (52k) Coupe, 02 plate so newer shape. Its up for £3200, which looking at other prices, seems very cheap, especially considering its been purchased from a main dealer before selling on at the price stated.

Cheers

It hasn't been bought from a main dealer.

A main dealer probably took it in as a part-exchange and then sent it to auction where it was bought by the current seller.

The car doesn't have to be from a Hyundai dealers, but something a dealer took in part exchange for a vehicle they were selling, also an '02 car would be too old for many main dealers to have on their lot.

We do trade some cars straight to the local used car dealers rather than take them to auction so that could be what he means by straight from the dealer.

I thought the minimum warranty was 3 months?
