Ferodo DS2500s get very good reviews and are what will soon be gracing the front and rear of my T350.

Recently put a set of pagid discs and pads on. I moved away from Ferodo's as the Pagids were supposed to be OEM. Squealing like piggies.

They have until Saturday to sort themselves out, then they get changed to Ferodos again.

Pagid? Avoid frown

I'd stay with (proper, as in brought from a stealership) OEM pads. They will give better feel then most aftermarket ones (which will probably be harder), while not wearing your discs or creating loads of dust. Unless you have a problem with the standard setup (unlikely unless you are doing track days or live in the alps?) stick with OEM.

If you are going to change the pads it's a good idea to change front & back to maintain braking balance where it should be.

I have performance friction 'Z' pads on my track day car and they are pretty good. Long wearing and they give good & consistent feel but they make more dust then the OEM ones.

Pagids will last longer and perform better especially at higher temperatures where the Ferodo's will start to fade.

The Pagids will squeal and won't get better, they are racing/track pads.

Not to say the Ferodo's aren't good, they are. It will also depend on the car and brake set-up (don't ask, I'm no expert).

Brake fade isn't usually caused by the pad material, it'll usually be the fluid boiling (I have heard the discs can overheat and gas can get trapped between the pad/disc but I've never experienced that with discs, it does happen easily with drums though). Pad material doesn't have much bearing on how hot the discs/fluid gets. If the pads do overheat (which can happen if they are too soft for whatever you are doing) they'll start breaking up and/or smearing themselves over the disc which will lead to massive wear and juddering under braking, (usually attributed to a warped disc but very rarely caused by it)

At least that's my limited experience...happy to be put right...

Avoid EBC, they're rubbish.

I've had good results with APEC pads for years, even on juicier braked cars (VXR 322mm brakes on the Astra worked fine with APEC compared to the OE Pagid pads).

Just put a set of cheap APECs on my mx5.

They're very good. No bedding in squeal or anythgin else. Good stopping-ness, and no dust as of yet.

Very good for what I paid.

Used to use Mintex 1155s on my track CRX and Castrol SRF fluid, standard brake system. Never had any fade at all. You're not really supposed to use the 1155s on the road but if the 1144s are anywhere near as good I'd recommend them.

Pagid make both OE and racepads, the OE pads are the same if not higher quality than anything that is normally fitted from the factory. Pagid racepads are the best money can buy, and are regularly used by championship winning race teams. for example - in the daytona 24hr all of the top 10 finishers used Pagid pads. Porsche, Aston, Lambo etc all use pagid race materials as OE fitment.

Basically your talking st. smile

I relayed my experience as it is right now. Thank you for showing yourself as an uneducted idiot on your very first post though. Means I get to put you on my ignore list.

To the chap who said they are racing/track pads, no, these are from Euro car parts, sold to me as OEM replacements.

No qualms about the braking force though, thats seems very good indeed the few times I've had to use them harshly.

Nice first post - you registered just to say that?? I think you'll find the poster is getting fed up of the sqealing, something a lot of fast road/race pads tend to do, not sure I recall him stating they were st....

Fair do's. thumbup

I have the racing pads on my 355 and yes I agree with the fluid being uprated as Varsas said, I use the same fluid that various 355s that get raced use.

Regards to your pads, they may just need de-glazing and bedding in again.

Did you put the pads and discs through several different heat phases to bed them in? Did you fit the pads with copper grease on the back? Did you fit new pad fitting kits?

Yes to all that. My family was involved in a car repair garage as I grew up, so I know my way around a car pretty well I think.

Brand new, Pagid discs as well.

Disapointing really frown

Hmm....I had Pagid on my Omega (Plod-spec) and they were excellent. Started to squeal recently but that was because the discs were shot. Put new discs on and they are fine again.

What car is it for (had MX5 in my head for some reason....)

Didn't know Pagids made discs.

I have AP rotors and Pagids RS14 pads.

No squeel but plenty of pad transfer.

Great stopping power.

For fast road use I would recomend RS42's.

Carbon Loaraine pads have had a lot of good reviews recently and am tempted to try them next.

This one is on an BMW E46. They were quieter this morning than they have been, so hopefully its getting better.

I'll remove and recheck them and re copper slip them tomorrow, and if that doesn't work, change them to Ferodo and just bite the cost on it.

I know how annoying it can be. I had soem Mintex on my 205 and although they worked great, they squealed like piggies when pulling up to junctions.
