Bought "Katie" over a month ago now. Filled out the appropriate bits of the V5 there and then, took the "I've just bought this" part with me and am still waiting to receive "my" V5.

Assuming the PO posted it off ASAP and it's not still sitting on his kitchen table, is a month or more too long to get your V5?

That's the issue. I must admit I have forgotten to send off a v5 for around 3 months once....

Hmmm. Maybe a polite email is in order?

You can use a V62 form to apply for it yourself if you have the new keeper supplement.

I bought my latest car around the same time and got the V5 back after less than two weeks, so I doubt there is a back log at the DVLA. Best give the previous owner a ring to check they've sent it off.

Depends how many times they lose your documents or claim they've never received them.

My last dealing with the DVLA was in relation to an engine change.

I visited a regional office, spoke to three seperate advisors on the phone, sent a fax and two recorded delivery letters to them before I got the problem resolved.

And don't get me started on colour changes!

My V5C arrived within 2 weeks of the seller posting it to them.
