I have a set of McLaren SLR brakes which i will be selling soon. They are the Carbon ceramic 370mm discs and come with the SLR Brembo 8-Pots. Im pretty sure a mimimum of 18" wheels is required to fit these but does anyone know what other cars these brakes would fit? or for most application they would they need custom adaptors?

Here are a few pics if it helps....

Thanks!

PS - For those interested i will put up a post in the for sale section soon smile

Must have taken a baggy pair of jogging bottoms to walk out with those down them.

E36 M3, E46 M3 and any Merc, maybe Porsche 911 too. Would need some work though but it is possible.

A guy on M5Board has a E36 M3 GT with SLR brakes.

They look not-far-off the same size as the 8-pots on the RS4/C5 RS6. I reckon you could squeeze them under just about any 19/20" wheel thats wider than about 9".

Well I've got a set of Brembo calipers (off an Aston DB9/V8 Vantage) with 360mm disks, which will be fitted to the Silvia, the adaptor brackets werent that much of a hastle, so I cant imagine it wouldnt be too disimilar to get something made up for these.

I know the 325mm brakes are tight on 18" wheels on an MG ZT... 370mm is HUGE - gotta be 19" minimum, no?

Mt wife's ML has some amazing stopping power but there's always room for improvement. It has 19inch wheels too, so I reckon those carbon ceramic brakes would fit.

Any bets what answer I'm going to get from her when I ask in the morning? smile

nono Don't ask, just do it. When she tries to come to a nice controlled stop and has her head hit the steering wheel, she'll know you've done it with her best interests at heart...

First rule of Fightclub my marriage is don't mess with her car unless approval is expressly given in triplicate.

In addition to issues of inside diameter of wheel clearing top of caliper, of getting correct offset of disc bell, and of outer face of caliper clearing inside of spokes, the caliper stud holes must be compatible with the uprights.
Also CoF of carbon-ceramic when cold is quite low, so these would have to be used on brake system w servo-assistance.
