These were held at Castle Combe circuit before track days had really become am common occurrence.

This is rather inspired by the "Group B as daily driver thread", Top Bannana posted some great snaps from a group B club event at the Combe. I remembered that I had some snaps that didn't really fit that thread but thought some of you might appreciate.

I can't remember if I've posted these before, if I have I hope you have short memorys! Anyway check out the eighties fashions!

Excuse the picture quality, it was the best I could do with a cheap 35mm camera! Possibly some more to come later and if anyone else has some suitable pics to add, please do.

Many thanks for sharing those snaps - truly superb cars out there. cool

Super Car test days? I sure don't remember, when was this - in the late 80's or something?

Going by the clothes and the attention a Testarossa is getting I'd guess so...

Not sure when it started but the two I attended were in 89 and 90. They were organised by The Pantera owner's club and a long defunct car magazine called World Sports Cars.

I've just dug out the original add, in 89 there were two events one in April and one in September and it was £50 to take your supercar on track.

Combe's changed a bit since those pics were taken! No armco and catch fencing in the '80s? Presumably if a car was to depart the circuit at speed it would just go on a sideways-slaughter through the crowd and end-up inverted at the back of the paddock! I'm presuming motorsport spectators back then were adept at quickly choosing the correct direction in which to run?

Interesting pics. The 'E' reg on the Marcos etc must make it '87/88 at least.

Looking at those very carefully to see if I can see myself. My love of both Panteras and Marcos's started there cloud9 Not to mention seeing an F40 going round on his own, saying he's not even trying, then timed him.... about 10 seconds a lap faster than anything else biggrin

This takes me back, like defbalde I was scanning the pictures to see if I could see myself.

Theses were superb days out, were you could see some of the best cars in the world. When I was there, certain Countach drivers were taking it very easy on the track, but I remember a guy in a 2.8 Capri going nuts, sideways on every corner, showing the supercar owners how it's done!

What made me laugh, was all cars going on track had to be scrutinised. There was this old guy going over these brand new lamborghini's & Ferrari's to see if there was anything wrong with them that would stop them being able to go on track. The guy could hardly stand up, but he looked like he was enjoying himself, which was the point of the day.

When I am back home from work on Tuesday, I will dig out my old photo's & scanner and post some pictures up.

Thanks to the OP for the post, brought back some good memories
